Re: [enchanting] Problems to start Echanting on W7

I used the standard Windows installer. I just modified the run.bat file to have the command "nxjpc -cp . EnchantingBridge" to specify a claspath of the current directory. It allowed the class files to be found. I just installed 0.2.3 on two machines, one running XP SP2 and the other Win7 ...

Re: Bluetooth dongle

I have a cheap generic dongle, which has worked fine for me. The built-in BT in my notebook also works fine.

But I have heard that some people have had trouble with some dongles - your best bet is probably to buy a cheap dongle and see if it works.

Re: Rotate in negative degrees

Hi Shadowstep, I understand why you were confused. Lego calls the sensor in the motor a tachometer, but your are correct that definition of a tachometer is an instrument that measures speed of rotation. It might better be called an odometer (in English), because it measures distance, not speed. But...

Re: Relative performance of leJOS?

Thank you bullestock for your answer. But your numbers are really confusing. (Ok, gloomyandy is right when he says 'Benchmarking is a very tricky subject'.) For instance, I see no row 'loop counts' in your given page. Do you mean row 'Speed (loops/min)'? If so, does this mean leJOS has 54177/70543 ...

Re: Relative performance of leJOS?

This page compares different languages for the NXT. In May I sent some data for LeJOS to the maintainer; he has not yet updated the page, but what I sent back then was The loop counts are: With display 54177 Without display 70543 I think you can safely put a "Yes" in the "Write 'fast...

Not true - I use 64-bit Java, and USB works just fine.

HOWTO: Install Lejos 0.9 on Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric)

I thought I would contribute this step-by-step guide to installing on Ubuntu: 1) Install Java as described here: http://www.webupd8.org/2011/09/how-to-install-oracle-java-7-jdk-in.html 2) Edit your .profile and add: export LEJOS_NXT_JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-7-oracle export NXJ_HOME=/opt/lejos_nxj...

Re: Omni Wheels

I'm not seeing any prices on that website. The cart lists everything as $0.00. Apparently, I only get charged for shipping. Which seems to be a constant $33.60, however many items I intend to buy Is that correct? Are you seeing something different? It does the same for me (and also did so back in A...

Re: Seeking Guidance

Like Andy said, the NXT is not fast enough to transfer the video data to the PC - but is that really necessary? Why not just connect the camera(s) directly to the PC, and let the NXT take care of only motors and possibly additional sensors? Most (all?) current webcams include a microphone, so I gues...

If you don't insist of using LEGO motors, and you don't need speed control, you could consider using standard servomotors using a controller such as this one.

Re: test high speed I2C mode

[...] within the limits of a single port you can query only one sensor at a time. The IMU needs to be as fast as possible to get valuable information. This means that every message to the BlinkM slows down the IMU. For this reason I decided to remove the BlinkM from my sensor and guess what, the IM...
