Re: Subsumption and RemoteRequestev3

It would probably help if you posted the details of the error you get and under what circumstances you get the error. I would also suggest that you write a short test program that only uses the remote sensor (no subsumption, or anything else) to check out if that side of thing is working or not. You...

Re: Freeze with NXT-EV3 Mindsensors adapter

There is a lot more going on in the EV3 than just running a Java VM. When using the slow i2c interface the EV3 is using a special real time interrupt system to actually generate the required i2c waveforms using standard I/O ports. This code runs at a higher priority than the Linux kernel and could p...

Re: Freeze with NXT-EV3 Mindsensors adapter

Not idea to be honest and that is a lot of operations, what happens if you use... i2cSensor = new I2CSensor(port, I2C_adr), SensorConstants.TYPE_HIGHSPEED); rather than i2cSensor = new I2CSensor(port, I2C_adr); To create the port? You may need to import lejos.hardware.sensors.SensorConstants to get ...

Re: Need Help - New to leJOS and doing serial communication between pc and ev3 by usb

You don't need any special classes. Once you have your EV3 connect via USB then it shows up as a network device and you simply use the standard Java networking classes. You use exactly the same methods to talk to the EV3 over Bluetooth/USB and WiFi. Having said that I would strongly recommend that y...

Re: Programming nxt in c?

If your School uses NXC then you should almost certainly start with that as you will be able to get help from your teachers and other students.

Re: Programming nxt in c?

You do realise that this is a forum for users of Java on the NXT? As a result the answer you get is likely to be a little biased. Did you ask whoever it was that told you that using C was better, why it was better? Did they have a good reason for using a very old, very low level programming language...

Re: How to use fsck to clean corrupted files

There is no reset button in the battery compartment on the EV3, that button is used to detect the use of a rechargeable battery. Oh and there is no way that any corrupt file is carried over from one sd-card to another All of the Linux fs is recreated from scratch, are you sure you used a different S...

Re: Freeze with NXT-EV3 Mindsensors adapter

That sounds very odd, the EV3 doesn't really do anything with i2c at boot time, so I don't really see how just having it attached would cause a problem. Again I've never seen the EV3 freeze at boot time unless the SD card is corrupt. I assume you are not really using Java 8 on the EV3 (unless you re...

Re: Freeze with NXT-EV3 Mindsensors adapter

I've never seen the EV3 lock up when talking to an i2c device. What class are you using to talk to the adaptor? How often does it happen? Can you reproduce the problem with a short test program?

To be honest the quickest way to sort things out is to re-install leJOS.

Re: How to use Calendar in NXT?

Nope we don't provide that class, som I'm afraid you will have to supply your own. I suspect that a bit of googling will turn up the source for something you can use. The problem you will have is that much of the code will probably be way to general for what you need. So you may want to sit down and...

Re: Losing pose on EV3

Without seeing what the robot is actually doing it is hard to say, you should also be logging the details of what you are telling the robot to do (so logging the details of the waypoints you are adding. Also why on earth are you converting things to strings and then back to floats in the PolarHeadin...

Re: Losing pose on EV3

It is hard to be sure what may be going on here. It would help if you had logging that tracked your robot state and the current pose so that you can see what is going on and if the current pose is ever being lost. To avoid the log being very large you could only log information if the state changes ...

Re: RMIRegulatedMotor doesn't return getCurrentSpeed()

Oops Aswin is of course correct the method to use is getRotationSpeed (though arguably getCurrentSpeed or even getCurrentVolocity would have been a better choice for the method name!).
