How to update ev3snapshot/sdcard/

Postby WizGeek » Thu Aug 31, 2017 9:31 pm

How does one update in the ./ev3snapshot/sdcard/ folder?

It appears the Ant build for ev3snapshot builds all subprojects and updates all other folders in ev3snapshot except the sdcard/ files. Granted, the file likely is quite static and doesn't need updating when leJOS jar files are built, but the contains the latest jars, yes?

There are two repos for the EV3 release. The first contains all of the higher level stuff and the snapshot and can be built reasonably easily using eclipse. The second contains all of th low level stuff like the Linux kernel, the file system, driver modules, native code modules etc. It is much more complex to build and needs a Linux system. Unless you really, really need to do it I would avoid building this part of leJOS. If all you need to do is update some of the jars it is much easier to build the snapshot and then copy the required jars over the top of the ones of an already installed EV3 system. If you feel you must recreate then you will need a Linux system, if you don't need to rebuild any of the native code then you can get away with just running, if you do need to build any of the native components you will need to install the codesourcery cross compiler and possibly other tools and will probably need a pretty good knowledge of relatively low level Linux development.
