Using bluetooth with iCommand on Windows

This is where you talk about the NXJ software itself, installation issues, and programming talk.

Using bluetooth with iCommand on Windows

Postby sbwhulio310 » Mon Dec 03, 2007 4:49 am

I need some help getting Bluetooth to work with iCommand.

I went thru the set up described in Brian Bagnall's book Maximum Lego NXT (Chapter 7) on a Windows 2000 platform. The NXT sees the laptop, and I could connect using Bluetooth to the laptop. It was paired on COM4.

We set up eclipse, the classpath, native libraries for RXTX, etc. and then tried sample programs. It seems to open the connection from iCommand, but then hangs --- doesn't do any of the other NXT commands. Here's the output on the melody test program:

Properties location: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\
Stable Library
Native lib Version = RXTX-2.1-7
Java lib Version = RXTX-2.1-7

Has anyone encountered this before? Any suggestions on what I can try?

Here's the program snippet:;
File myFile = new File("C:\\ProgramFiles\\icommand-0.6\\samples\\MonkeyIsland.rso");
byte status = FileSystem.upload(myFile);
if(status == 0)
System.out.println("File successfully uploaded");
else {
System.out.println("Error uploading " + myFile.getName() + ": " + Integer.toHexString(status));

Try following the (somewhat convoluted) instructions in the readme file that comes with iCommand. Basically you shouldn't need to use RXTX anymore, just Bluecove, which comes with the iCommand download.
