64bit server and K12LTSP

This is where you talk about the NXJ software itself, installation issues, and programming talk.

64bit server and K12LTSP

Postby banderson » Fri Jan 11, 2008 1:55 am

My school lab is 64 bit K12LTSP version 6.0 running on a Dell Poweredge 1900 with 36 Dell
Optiplex 745s as terminals (I had no choice.).

I want to do Lejos (Lego Mindstorms NXT) with my students.

Version 0.4 works at home on my 32 bit Fedora Core 6.

At school Version 0.5 tries to compile on my 64 bit server:
/opt/lejos_nxj/build/build.xml:65: The following error occurred while executing this line:
/opt/lejos_nxj/src/libnxt/build.xml:38: Class org.apache.tools.ant.taskdefs.condition.And doesn't support the nested "matches" element.

At school Version 0.5 works on a 32 bit gentoo workstation.
I thought to have my students ssh to this workstation,
and use nxj --name to download to their robots.
When I try this with more than one NXT on my usb expander,
it doesn't seem to pay attention to the name,
and downloads to the wrong NXT.
One at a time, nxjbrowse seems able to set the name,
delete files, and run programs.
nxjbrowse doesn't seem to discover more than one NXT.
The readme seems to imply that it can.

Is there a better way to get 36 students to download to their NXTs?
Is it reasonable to think that Lejos could be made to work from our K12LTSP terminals?

nxjbrowse supports multiple NXTs over Bluetooth but not currently over USB.
